plans to sell off its Thoroughbred yearlings, breeding stocki and most of its horsesin training, starting at Kenneland’ws yearling sale in September. “Over a perioc of more than 30 years my fathedr developed Overbrook Farm into one of the most successfuol and respected breeding operations inthe world,” said owner Bill Young Jr. in a news “The decision to dispersee is a personal one that came aftedr a great deal of Isimply don’t have the passiobn for the thoroughbred sport that my father did, despiter my respect for the business.
” Overbrook champions include 1996 Kentuckgy Derby winner Grindstone, 1999 Breeder’s Cup Classic winnere Cat Thief, dual classic winner Tabasco Cat, Preakness Stakes winner Timber Country and Belmongt Stakes winner Editor’s Note. The dispersal will include abouy200 horses. The farm will continue as a small racinfg stable under the directionof Young’sx son, Chris Young. “Our goal is to lease the farm as aThoroughbrex operation,” Bill Young said in the release. The yearlings will be sold at Keeneland’ws September Sale, which begins Sept. 14.
The weanlings, broodmarezs and horses of racingy age will be sold during the Novembefr BreedingStock Sale, and the dispersal will continu e during the January Horses of All Ages Sale.
